Performance art has always been interesting to me, but it also has aways been foreign. I think one of the most important parts about performance art is trying to follow and understand what is going on, we attempted to understand this during the class activity. I also enjoyed the making of the performance art because it was something new, and it was interesting to understand how the body works in relation to the natural world. I also found the reaction that light eyes had compared to darker eyes intriguing.
Today in class we recorded sound, unlike cages works we made a lot of the sound, instead of it being the natural environment. I really do like the idea of sound as art, and the possibilities of silent is very interesting and does not happen often. In my project I am looking at the sounds of water, whether that be the sink, toilet or what happens surrounding the sounds of water. drying your hands and stuff relating to that. I want to break up the sounds with not only silence but this the surrounding sounds of water. I am nervous for this project though because i am not skilled on the computer, and get frustrated easily.
I found this project very hard. I am not someone who is very good with computers. I feel that the art style that I am strongest in is that of fine arts, such as painting. I felt out of my element during this project, which was not only challenging but also frustrating. Although I had a hard time with it during this project i focuses on the sounds that happen with water and some sounds that surround those, such as in a bathroom. I really injured the actual sounds separately that i collected of water, and hope that I was able to combined them in a way that is aesthetically pleasing.

In class we had a discussion about how political art work and the meaning of silent protest. For me I am very passionate about the violence in the middle east, and it amazes me that there are many people in the world that do not know what is happening there to this day, it actually makes me angry when I talk to my Jewish friends and they do not no anything about the conflict. With this work I would want two people standing holding hands. One of which would be a palestinian and the other would be and Israeli, and the only thing I would want them to say is "the peace starts with us." This idea that we are the future is so important, and to stop this conflict is to break the cycle of hatred between the two culture that has existed for many years. I would hope that people watching would start to join in on the fraise and hope that these hushed worlds of two people become yelling with many more.
I was pleased with the sound/music that I was able to create, especially because I was not very comfortable with the idea of working with audacity. I do not know if I would do this again but it was definitely something that was challenging, and gratifying when i was done.

Interacting with Nature
https://soundcloud.com/phij/making-and-meaning-sound-2
While I was creating this work I was really interested in the interaction with a humans feet and Nature, but when i began to listen to the sounds of the video that i collected i realized that the idea the whole human interacting with nature was very interesting. I was also interested in how the wind plays a role in the effects of the human and the sound. The other day I walked outside my building and was almost taken down by the wind. How can something invisible interact with your body that much?

I do not want my house to be walled in on all sides and my windows to be stuffed. I want the culture of all lands to be blown about my house as freely as possible. But I refuse to be blown off my feet by any.

Personally I am really interesting in the dialogue of art, and how it affects the people in everyday life. The ability to communicate with people is what makes this world continue to work, but for some people this communication process is hard.
I would most definitely say that I want my work to contribute to the community. Personally my goal as to use my artwork to get people out of their own element. The quote that I included by Gandhi has been a quote that I have referenced many times in my own work. When People see my work I want them to think about their own position on the issue. I think its important to understand the cultures in the world and be able to work with them.
I would say that I really love work with people, even if that means just a conversation. Gates pointed out what a conversation can do and how that conversation can create a snowball effect and turn into something completely different.
To describe the feeling when you finish a work is almost impossible: and I think that’s why I document my process of my work is something that I love to do. As an artist you invest so much time into a work. Countless hours actually creating it, and then all the hours you spend thinking about what you could change about it. But people just see the finished work, not where it started. People will ask me how I did that and to describe to them what colors I choose to combine and how I was able to depict water with color is challenging, but to be able to show them the process of how it happened is something completely different. A lot of times I use snapchat to show people my processes, in a way I feel that I am including them in every step of my process in a very simple way. They see where it began and then they see where it finished. I also enjoy looking at it as if a flip book, it helps me understand and comprehend how my brain was able to fix and adjust certain elements of the piece by stepping back and looking at it from the audiences perspective.
There are times where something will happen in my life and the want to paint becomes necessary, but there are also times where I feel that I am forcing creativity out of my body, and those are the times where I feel my work is not as successful as I would like it to be. I would say though what inspires me most is the news and my own culture and what goes on in my life.
I really love telling my family and friends about my work. I actually created an instagram for my artwork (artbyabu) and I have gotten a lot of followers, which is awesome! My family has always been really supportive of my work and really proud that I have followed what I love, which I am very thankful for that.
